What is liquid glass? – It is an alkaline solution that looks like a thick liquid of yellow or gray color. In essence, it is a unique material, as each of its properties has its own application. So how is it used? Let’s take a look.
Liquid glass can be used both in construction and in everyday life. Undoubtedly, it is used much more often in construction.
Liquid Glass in Construction
In construction, liquid glass can be used as:
- Waterproofing agent. It is excellent for use in rooms that are constantly exposed to water. For example, for treating walls in pools, saunas, showers, and bathrooms, waterproof plaster can be used to which “Malva” liquid glass is added to achieve maximum waterproofing properties. Also, a solution with liquid glass can be used for waterproofing wells, when creating foundations and plinths to protect them from wastewater and atmospheric effects.
- Fire-resistant agent. Thanks to its excellent fire-resistant properties, liquid glass can be used when laying fireplaces and stoves.
- Agent for increasing the strength of cement mixtures. Liquid glass can and should be added to cement mixtures to increase the strength of the finished product. Such mixes are more reliable than usual and are well suited for filling gaps and voids in walls and ceilings.
Liquid Glass in Everyday Life
In everyday life, liquid glass can be used as:
- Agent for tree treatment. It is applied to the place after cutting a tree branch, preventing various plant diseases.
- Stain remover. When ordinary stain removers do not work, a solution made from “Malva” liquid glass, soap, and baking soda can help—boil your laundry in this mixture.
- Limescale remover. It is easy to remove burnt residue from a frying pan or pot with the help of liquid glass. To do this, boil the cookware in a solution of water and liquid glass, then clean it using special brushes.
It is worth noting that liquid glass is an environmentally friendly product, but keep in mind that it is still an alkaline solution. Therefore, when working with it, do not forget to use gloves to protect your hands.
Undoubtedly, there are many ready-made products available today; however, liquid glass has truly unique properties and remains inexpensive, which allows it to firmly occupy its niche.
