How to paint a facade?
The exterior finish of your house plays as important a role as the interior, because as the saying goes, “Clothes make the man…”. If over time the paint on the facade has chipped a little or become more faded, then it needs to be refreshed by repainting. To ensure that the facade of the house always looks impeccable, it is necessary not only to choose the right paint but also to carry out the painting properly – this will allow it to look flawless for a very long time.
Stages of facade painting
The first and one of the important stages is the direct preparation of the facade for painting. The walls of the facade must be cleaned of dust and dirt.
All surfaces that will not be painted should be protected from paint splatter using a tarp or protective film.
All removable details should be taken off.
If the walls have any irregularities or defects, they need to be fixed, first by filling them with facade acrylic putty “TRIORA”. After this, the surface must be sanded. It is absolutely necessary to apply a universal acrylic primer “UNI-primer” from “TRIORA”. This is very important because the primer strengthens the coating, allows better adhesion of the paint to the surface, plus it significantly reduces paint consumption. After application, the primer should dry for at least 24 hours.
The second stage is directly applying paint to the surface. It is better to choose specialized paints for facades. For example, TRIORA facade paint is ideal for painting facades, it is easy to apply and dries quickly.
What is the best way to paint a facade?
Before application, the paint must be thoroughly mixed. To paint a facade, you need a large and a small brush. The large brush is used directly for painting the main area, while the small brush is used for painting hard-to-reach places.
The painting of the facade should take place at temperatures from +180 to +100C. Lower or higher temperatures can complicate the painting process.
Start by painting all corners with a narrow roller. The length of each section should be approximately 1.5 – 2 meters (a small brush can also be used). Painting should always start from the corner of the wall.
It is necessary to paint with perpendicular movements, changing direction every 60 cm.
You can also use a method resembling letter W while painting. The last stroke should smooth out from top to bottom.
The facade is usually painted in two layers. Before applying the second layer, you must allow the first layer to dry.
It’s important to remember not to interrupt the process of painting a facade; otherwise, you might end up with an uneven color on the surface.
Upon completion of work, while the paint is still wet, it should be protected from getting wet and dusty.
By following these recommendations, you can revive your facade effortlessly! Be impeccable in everything!
