How to paint the ceiling correctly?

The ceiling is the part of the room that is always in plain sight, which is why it should always look impeccable.

In fact, painting the ceiling is not such a difficult task, the main thing is to know the basic principles of the work.

The first step to success is a properly prepared surface. To prepare the ceiling, we will need the following:

  • a ladder,
  • special protective clothing,
  • a roller,
  • a small brush,
  • primer,
  • putty,
  • paint.

When it comes to choosing paint, it’s important to take this matter seriously. For example, “TRIORA” ceiling paint has excellent adhesion to the surface, a matte texture, is easy to apply, and most importantly, contains no harmful substances.

Preparing the Ceiling Properly

  1. All furniture and appliances should be covered with a special protective film or tarp to prevent paint from getting on them.
  2. Use a dry cloth to wipe the ceiling and remove old paint.
  3. Areas that may be damaged by mold or fungus should be treated with a special bio-protective agent from “TRIORA”.
  4. Small cracks, irregularities, and defects should be corrected with finishing acrylic putty from “TRIORA”.
  5. The final step of preparation must include applying a final coat of universal acrylic primer “Chile” from “TRIORA”.
  6. Do not skip priming the ceiling, as it ensures material adhesion to the surface.

How to Paint the Ceiling?

Как красить потолокBefore applying paint, it should be thoroughly mixed. It is best to use a wide roller for application. A properly chosen roller will significantly ease the process of applying paint to the ceiling. For instance, a foam roller will leave air bubbles on the surface, which will look unaesthetic. It is better to opt for a roller with a long nap.

Begin painting from the walls and gradually move towards the center of the room. It is important for the paint stripes to slightly overlap each other.

Difficult-to-reach areas are best painted carefully with a thin brush.

To avoid paint streaks on the ceiling, each subsequent coat should only be applied after the previous one has dried. Otherwise, the paint may become duller, and the surface may lose its desired smoothness.
